Farewell Shan Ding Lu
After two good years at Shanding Lu our time in Taiwan is now over. Our children are now more Taiwanese than Australian, my Perth work office have mostly forgotten what I look like and our house, family and friends in Australia are all ready for our return.
It is always sad to leave a place. Shanding Lu, Daliao, Kaohsiung and Taiwan have been very good to us indeed and these two years have been enjoyed by us all. They will forever be remembered by our kids with family, friend and national bonds that will last their lifetimes.
Thank you and farewell the mountains, rivers and the great outdoors. These are Taiwan’s backyard treasures and my pure delight.
Thank you and farewell to all Taiwan’s keen photographers and the Kaohsiung Flickr group. The monthly meetups and all the fantastic photo opportunities that Taiwan has to offer.
Thank you and farewell to all those fishermen, fish markets, seafood meals and fishing boats.
Thank you and farewell to the farmers and good people living on the Gaoping river plains.
Thankyou and farewell to the all the great people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
Thank you and farewell to Taiwan bloggers and Shan Ding Lu readers. I have thoroughly enjoyed photographing and blogging on the meanderings of living in Southern Taiwan. I have also thoroughly enjoyed reading many of the Taiwan blogs. There is some fantastic content provided by many and varied dedicated bloggers. My RSS feeds will remain a constant tie to you all. A special thanks to Fotozon and the Taiwan Picture of the day for publishing many of Shan Ding Lu’s The Weekly Photo.
Thank you and farewell Taiwan.

To Dear Steven & Family ,
Hope that Taiwan stays in the forefront of your mind forever with its beutifully souled people & even greater geography , as it will for me !!
All the best & thankyou for letting us all travel through Taiwan with you , on your travels …
Safe journey home to OZ

Don’t stop now: bring on the next blog: “Shann St Shinannagans”.
Just think of all your Taiwanese friends who will come to the sort of understanding about Perth you brought to me about Kaohsiung!
Hi Stephen,
I wish you and your family the best of luck in all your future endeavors. Although your time with Shan Ding Lu has come to an end, can we expect you to continue blogging from your next destination?
I’ll miss reading your postings on Taiwan, but all the best to you and your family on your return to Australia.
Hi Steven,
Time flies! I’m glad you had a good time in Tiawan.
All of us really enjoy the amazing blogs. We’re looking forward to see another one.
Hope to see you soon in Taiwan or Perth.
Best Wishes
Best wishes. I’m glad I had the chance to meet you a couple of times. Good luck in Perth.
Thank you and farewell all you commenters on Shan Ding Lu,
Brad,
Yes, Taiwan will always be a big part of our family. It will never be too far away.
Cindy,
Too bad we didn’t get a chance to hike one of those beautiful mountains together. Another time I am sure.
Henry, Yi-Chen, Carrie,
Australia doesn’t have the same photo and blogging appeal as Taiwan. But I am missing it already and can feel some “Shann Street” photo stories just waiting to be told. I’ll keep you posted.
Adrian,
I’ll miss those Flickr meets and Tuesdays too. Make sure to post plenty from your monthly meets.
Joel,
Return we most certainly will. In Australia you are always welcome.
Todd, David, MJ, Carrie, Kaminoge, Craig,
I feel like I know you all well. Keep up the blogging, you have an eager reader in Australia.
Stephen
This is a great blog and I’m saddened to see it end. Best wishes to you and your family!
I am so sorry to only find your blog now that you are leaving. A friend pointed me to it today. It is a great blog with a lot of great tips. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading your articles over the next while. Good luck on your trip home.
For me, two years is too short. Ten years later I am still chugging along.
Take care and happy travels.

Yes, two years is short but Taiwan is never too far away.
What a great blog you run. Lots of great travel stories of your own. Ahh, it always makes me want to travel some more when I read travel stories of places like Uzbekistan or New Zealand.

Hi There,
Thanks for your kind words about my blog. It is sadly neglected these days as I am writing my thesis and vowed that should take priority over any travel stories. Yes, I think you like me love travelling. Not a day passes that I dont wish I was on a bus in a weird country eating strange food and meeting new and interesting people. I will add quite a bit more on Uzbekistan soon (I hope) once my thesis is done.
Once again, thanks for the great blog. I will be reading it to get some tips for places to visit in the South. I have always lived in Taipei and don’t know the South that well.
Godspeed, safe travels
Paul
Super Pictures, Superwords. I my self had two fantastic years in Kaohsiung and lived at Da Shun Lu and Also next to Ai He and Wu Fu Shi Lu where the bridge is crossing. I was working for a danish company there and got married to my wife which is from Shanghai, meanwhile she also gave birth to our firstborn. My weekends was spent some times going to Kenting and also visiting friends in Taipei, either by bus or train. I as well visited my wife and family in Shanghai whilst staying in Kaohsiung. I as you, remember the good market on Chin Chin Island although also remember the sand was completely black due to dirt. I hope I soon will have the chance to revert to the wonderful southern place of Formosa again. ;=)

You really enjoyed Kaohsiung. Do make sure you return to Kaohsiung. You will be surprised at just how much it has changed in a few years.

Guess it is a must once I get myself and my family back to Asia. @) /Martin
